Restrictions to pregnant employees work | Law No. 14,151/2021

On May 12th, 2021, Law No. 14,151/2021 was enacted,  determining restrictions to presential work of pregnant employees during the New Coronavirus pandemic.

According to the legal text, during the Covid-19 public health emergency, pregnant employees must remain away from their presential activities, remaining at the employer’s disposal to carry out activities at home, in teleworking, remote work or other forms of work at distance.

Although the Law in question does not accurately determine the period of the “public health emergency of national importance due to the new coronavirus”, it is possible to assume that the law will be revoked or a new legislation will be issued when public health authorities confirm the safety of the return of pregnant women to their presential activities.

We will remain following the legislation in this regard, reporting its developments.

Recently, Executive Orders No. 1,045/21 and No. 1,046/21 were also enacted to provide new measurers for promoting employment. Learn more
